Grinnell College to host panel discussion on Joe Rosenfield

Local leaders to remember his impact on the college and beyond 

GRINNELL, Iowa — Grinnell College will host “To Know Joe,” a panel discussion of leaders who knew and worked with Joe Rosenfield, who graduated in the class of 1925, to remember and honor his contributions to the College and the state of Iowa.

“To Know Joe: Joe Rosenfield ’25 and the Community He Built,” a panel of three Iowans who will discuss their memories of Joe and his broader impact, sponsored by the Rosenfield Program in in Public Affairs, International Relations, and Human Rights.

Joseph Rosenfield is a powerful figure in the history of Grinnell College. His generosity and leadership left an enduring imprint. But as a civic and business leader, Rosenfield had an equally profound effect on the broader Iowa community. Jim Cownie, Des Moines-based entrepreneur and philanthropist; Michael Gartner, Chairman of the Iowa Cubs and former President of NBC News; and George Drake, former president and professor emeritus at Grinnell College will discuss their memories of Rosenfield and his reach beyond Grinnell College.

The college welcomes the participation of people with disabilities.
