Ideas come to life at Grinnell’s new Maker Lab (MLab). The MLab is collaboration between the Grinnell Area Arts Council and Grinnell College’s Wilson Center for Innovation & Leadership to help area residents create their designs. Join the UnityPoint Health® – Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Senior Education Program on Monday, April 29, to hear Tim Ellsworth, Sage Kapland-Goland and Monica St. Angelo explain what a maker lab is, how to get involved and how this unique college-community partnership works.

Tim Ellsworth is a local master craftsman and active community member, serving on the board of Imagine Grinnell, and providing leadership and expert advice for the Grinnell MLab.

Sage Kaplan-Goland is a third-year physics major at Grinnell College. He has a background in robotics, computer-aided design and manufacturing, and metalworking, and currently works for the Wilson Center for Innovation and Leadership as the MLab Manager.

Monica St. Angelo is the current operations manager for the Grinnell Area Arts Council. Her background includes training at both the Kansas City Ballet and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City. She has taught dance for Grinnell College, choreographed for the summer community musicals, and previously owned a yoga studio in downtown Grinnell.

The Senior Education Program is held each Monday at 10 a.m. in the Drake Community Library, with refreshments beginning at 9:30 a.m. This program is free and open to the public Tags for Youtube
