GRINNELL, IA – LINK’s mission is to LeadInspireNurture, and Keep children educated, enriched and engaged in the Grinnell community. LINK Grinnell, a 501c3 organization, has been offering after-school programming for a little over four months and announces today an intent to offer summer programming in 2020.

Previously, UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC) had offered a summer daycamp program in the Grinnell community, and this program will be re-established under the independent LINK umbrella. GRMC’s CEO, Jennifer Havens says, “We are glad to be able to transition the daycamp program to LINK and know that our employees, and the community at- large, will still have a wonderful option for summer care in Grinnell.”

“We are excited to be offering summer programming for children ages 5-12 as we know this is another need for families in and around the Grinnell area. We are very grateful to Grinnell Regional Medical Center for paving the way by offering summer programming over the past several years,” says Abby Copeman Petig, LINK Board President.

Summer programming will remain very similar to the previous program, but will make changes to accommodate additional students and opportunities. While specific details are being finalized now, registration will open soon for the program at linkgrinnell.org and registration questions may be directed to LINK Executive Director, Chad Nath at chad@linkgrinnell.org. Parents are encouraged to complete the registration packet found on the website to ensure entrance into the program.

“We are thankful for our partners who have helped bring LINK Grinnell to fruition, including GRMC, Grinnell-Newburg School District, Grinnell College & Grinnell Mutual. We appreciate their continued support of the LINK organization, and all its avenues of programming,” says Chad Nath, Director of LINK.

LINK Grinnell was founded with a priority to support the community’s long-term and ongoing efforts of childcare and youth development in Grinnell, and establishing a summer program available to the entire community is fulfilling another element of this vision.

The organization continues to operate an after-school program, and has recently expanded to include professional development days of the Grinnell-Newburg School District. If a family is interested in signing up for any aspect of the program, they can do so on the website or by emailing chad@linkgrinnell.org.
