The Grinnell College men’s and women’s track and field teams, as well as three Pioneer individuals, were named 2014 Division III All-Academic by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

A total of 158 women’s teams and 93 men’s squads earned the honor, which is given to teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 or higher. Grinnell’s women had a GPA of 3.48 and the men had a 3.29.

Individuals claiming the award for Grinnell were Sarah Burnell ’14, Christine Ajinjeru ’14, Frank Canady ’14 and Eloise Miller ’15.

To earn the individual award, athletes must have compiled a GPA of 3.30 and competed in the NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championships and/or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or top 25 in a relay.


A total of 416 women from 126 institutions earned the women’s award, while a total of 276 men from 100 institutions were men’s award winners.
