Culinary Arts classes begin at Iowa Valley Grinnell this January
GRINNELL – Order up! … Iowa Valley Grinnell’s new Culinary Arts Apprenticeship program will kick off with classes starting January 12. Classes will take place on Mondays at the Grinnell College catering kitchen and the Iowa Valley Grinnell campus.
This Associate of Applied Science degree will be matched with a 6,000-hour apprenticeship registered with the US Department of Labor, and include courses such as menu planning, beverage control, food cost accounting, and various food preparations and baking.
Classroom and laboratory time is paired with paid work over three years. Students have been busy with apprenticeships that began this fall. Apprenticeship sites include: The Tremont on Main, Grinnell College, Relish, Prairie Canary, and Saint Francis Manor, with other apprenticeship sites coming on daily.
